The Weeping Mother

"The Weeping Mother" features model Abbie Burland in a final costume photoshoot that captures the essence of despair and resilience. For this piece, I collected, sculpted, and spray-painted 400 bottle caps, each 1 representing 25 lost children in Gaza. The costume evolves with crystallisation, symbolising how "The Weeping Mother" is reverting back to her mineral form, overwhelmed by the injustice of the world. The chosen location reflects the broken and organic nature of a war zone, aligning with the message of the project: "In Unity We Have Power; We Are Not Blind, So Don’t Act Like It." This political performance art piece aims to promote peace, unity, and resistance against oppression, inspired by the traditional dress and headpiece’s  from Ukraine and Palestine - which are both currently facing oppression.
